Creating, scaling and resetting Australia's flagship urban greening program

Overview
Reservoir Partners was engaged by Hort Innovation to oversee the final year of the 202020 Vision and define its next five-year direction. Originally created by David Weisz in 2013 at Hort Innovation, the program became one of Australia's leading urban greening initiatives, uniting industry, government and community around increasing green space in urban environments. This work informed the transition to Greener Spaces Better Places (GSBP), which we were later engaged to develop and launch.
The Opportunity
With 2020 approaching, the program required leadership to deliver the final phase, a reset to address complexity and declining momentum, and a clear strategy for the next iteration.
Our Approach
Having created the program, Reservoir Partners was brought back to stabilise and reposition it. We secured additional investment to reinvigorate the final phase, delivered a five-year business review, and aligned 30+ stakeholders across industry, government and academia. We identified key barriers and opportunities, developed the strategic brief and took the program to market, and led procurement of delivery partners for a +$4.5m program.
